HOTEL D'ANJOU**** ANGERS

THE HOTEL D'ANJOU IN ANGERS OPENS A NEW CHAPTER IN ITS HISTORY!

Built in 1857, the Hotel d'Anjou was the first hotel to be built in Angers, and has undergone constant transformation over the years. Designed by the famous Angers architect Alexandre Richard-Delalande, the luxurious building was extended in the 1920s by the architect Roger Jusserand. The banqueting hall was topped by a mezzanine lit by a sublime Art Deco glass roof, and the walls were adorned with mosaics in predominantly blue and gold, the work of the famous Rennes mosaicist Isidore ODORICO. Taken over by the Turenne Capital Group in 2019, the four-star establishment was completely renovated. Nearly twelve months of work were needed to restore the place to its refined splendour.

The interior design and architecture studio Hyggy, has restored the Hotel d'Anjou to its former glory, respecting the emblematic environment of this iconic Anjou establishment. This specialist in the hospitality sector worked with Gaëlle Guinet, interior architect and founder of Atelier Mäco, on the conceptualisation and renovation of the living spaces, as well as the creation of the brand new wellness area and the magnificent ODORICO restaurant.

The renovation project was naturally inspired by the work of the emblematic mosaic artist. Heir to a dynasty of Italian craftsmen based in Rennes, ODORICO worked with Roger Jusserand, who was responsible for renovating the Hôtel d'Anjou in the 1920s. Among their joint projects, the Maison Bleue is one of Angers' most famous historic monuments. Following on from this, Isidore Odorico created the sublime blue and gold mosaics that today give the restaurant at the Hôtel d'Anjou its incredible cachet!

The original chandeliers were sent back to Italy to be refurbished and modernised. The contemporary, colourful furniture was chosen to match the dominant hues of the mosaics. Mouldings, mirrors, parquet flooring and a planted bar area complete this perfect blend of artistic heritage and design.

Brossier Saderne is particularly proud to have been asked to design and manufacture bespoke lighting for the hotel reception and restaurant bar at this well-known hotel on the Place d'Angers. To illuminate the reception counter, a brass-finish, fixed, high-level lamp extends two arms, each fitted with a spherical shade of white opal glass.

The restaurant bar, meanwhile, proudly displays the letters of the name "ODORICO" in a brass lacquer finish. It is topped by an Art Deco-style grille, topped by a dozen spherical shades of white opal glass.

Just a 10-minute walk from the station and close to the Palais des Congrès, the Hôtel d'Anjou is more than ever the soul of Angers. With its rich history and fabulous past, it has stood the test of time and evolved with the times. As well as being preserved, this legendary place is now sublimely restored. A dynamic establishment open to the city, it now blends contemporary style with refined services.
